January 2009 Cave Rescue Squad Newsletter

Introduction

Hi all and welcome to 2009. I know it's been a while since you've all heard from
me but I've been hiding and trying to finish my PhD. Unfortunately it's not gone
in yet but as everyone (including my supervisors) is telling me not to stress
and it will be done when it's done it's time for me to catch up with some CRS
business.

Fees Reminder

Firstly I have the unfortunate job of reminding all members that the $30 annual
fee is now well overdue. I'll be going through the list and personally tracking
down anyone that has not paid to extract the money from them shortly. YOU KNOW
WHO YOU ARE! :-).

Events and Training For The Year

The events calendar is starting to come together and I put what I already have
on the web site at:

http://www.caverescue.org.au/node/10

I know that there is a lot more coming so keep an eye on the page from time to
time.

Timor Training Weekend

Harvey will be running the first of two Timor training weekends on 21/22 February
and the full details should be coming out shortly.

Pop the date in your diaries and I hope to see you there - if I can drag myself
away from my computer that is :-(.

Statistics Reminder

We need to supply the VRA and the State Rescue Board with monthly statistics of
what we've been doing: both training and operations. So if you've done a training
course that you think might be relevant drop us a line and we'll include it.
Also if you've been out caving, canyoning, hiking, rogaining etc we have a dispensation
to count these as training in the form of "maintenance of competency" so
again, please let us know.

Statistics submissions can be made to: data@caverescue.org.au.

This is an email address that currently goes through to Cath so if you need to
contact her directly try:

Conclusion

That's all for now, I hope the holiday season has treated you all well and the
New Year continues that way.
