Operation Barrington (Land SAR Exercise)

BWRS is again running Operation Barrington and has invited CRS members. See John's email below but please contact CRS first if you are interested in attending this exercise.

Police Rescue Zetland have again indicated their involvement in the operational exercise termed “Barrington Tops SAREX". The dates are 16th & 17th  October 2010.

BWRS has, as has been the practice in the past, also invited other agencies ie Wicen, VRA, SCAT, Rural Fire, SES, and local police. The object of this exercise is to work with other agencies, to develop a rapport with them, practice search techniques in remote and difficult terrain, and search for a missing plane that disappeared in the area in 1981.

At this stage, similar details to last year regarding camping arrangements etc (for those who attended) should be used as a guide. Please refer to and read the information on this website: Operation Barrington. The information is current but may change if further information is forthcoming from Police. There are 5 general areas that, if there are adequate numbers of searchers, need to be searched.
